Job Description

About the role
As Quality Engineer you will be working closely with the Quality Manager to ensure that all products under their ownership meet the key quality requirements all of the time. The key requirements are zero safety hazards, full regulatory compliance and being fit for use.

You will work with suppliers and vendors to ensure the products within your portfolio consistently achieve high customer satisfaction, with all products meeting customer expectations from the first day of sale as evidenced by above-average e-commerce product review scores at launch and thereafter.

You are open-minded and analytical in your treatment of customer needs and business specifics while striking an optimal balance between industry best practices and the agility needed for rapid growth. You are excited about working in a semi-start-up setting streamlining and identifying process improvement opportunities and pioneering new ways to do things!

What you will do

  • Working with 3rd party labs and suppliers to define new product compliance, fit-for-use, performance and lifespan requirements, along with testing plans, timescales and costs.
  • Reviewing product and packaging samples, conducting basic in-house testing and coordinating 3rd party testing as required.
  • Collaborating with Product Development, Purchasing and other cross-functional teams to qualify new products and suppliers within the planned timescales.
  • Identifying and solving product design, packaging, instruction and manufacturing process issues.
  • Requesting, reviewing and filing product compliance and quality certificates, reports and other documentation or files.
  • Entering and updating data within the QMS (Quality Management System)
  • Collecting, analysing and reporting data including customer complaints, inspection results, return rates and production data.
  • Using advanced quality tools and technical analysis to understand the root causes of challenging problems and their effective solutions, then guiding manufacturing partners to implement successfully.
  • Conducting on-site quality system and manufacturing process audits.
  • Supervising, training and assisting 3rd party inspectors on-site at supplier facilities.
  • Reviewing quality inspection reports and escalating concerns as appropriate.

Preferred Experience

Who you are

  • Advanced English (both written and spoken)
  • Bachelor degree in relevant subject area such as engineering, science or manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in quality or manufacturing industry
  • Familiar with general requirements for consumer products in export markets
  • Skilled in the use of quality tools and methods for problem solving
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and best practices
  • Background in quality inspection, testing and certification
  • Experience in supplier audit, process improvement and product development preferred
  • Highly scientific and numeric
  • Exposure to consumer electronics is advantageous
  • Excellent communication, team collaboration and project management skills
