VP of Data Engineering

Job Description

The Tech team is pioneering a data-driven intelligent platform to optimize and grow E-commerce businesses. Our mission is to design advanced automation, decision-support tools and autonomous algorithms. We believe that human-machine collaboration is the key to capture new trends before they happen, deploy effective quantitative marketing strategies and best tailor our products to our customer’s needs. To achieve this vision, our Tech team relies on cutting-edge approaches to data and software engineering enabling us to quickly iterate new ideas and confidently turn them into data-driven products.

About the role

The Vice President of Data Engineering will be responsible for engaging BRANDED business leadership to understand data needs and deliver best-in-class solutions to drive business results. As the global leader, you will establish clear and practical data practices for project implementations; create standardized approaches for data ingestion and processing ;while supporting flexibility of the business and technology teams. As a proven executive, you will lead a high-performing team of data engineers and data analysts focused on continuous improvement and challenging the status quo.

*What you will do *

  • Lead, manage, mentor a talented team of data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists as we build best-in-class data assets across key data domains.
  • Attract, recruit and lead the industry’s best talent. Simultaneously, have the technical know-how to ensure we are developing the appropriate data assets based on the highest value business use cases.
  • Partner with leadership across the business to understand, manage data needs and develop the vision and roadmap
  • Create and deliver next generation capabilities around analysis, reporting, data engineering and business intelligence tools.
  • Build a modern data environment focused on delivering information to the business and leveraging sound governance, tools, and technology.
  • Advance emerging data product features for artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced analytics in partnership with various technology business groups.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 10+ years’ of experience as a technologist, ideally with specialization in data engineering, platform engineering, and solutions architecture
  • At least 8+ years’ experience with analytics, business intelligence, and/or data science
  • Proven ability to set enterprise level data capabilities, applying an in-depth understanding of the business strategy while enabling adoption of enterprise technology assets.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor and lead teams to success
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
